President of "Assembly of Caucasian Nations" detained in Chechnya, relatives report

Today, Ruslan Kutaev, the President of the international public-political movement "Assembly of Caucasian Nations", was detained by law enforcers in the village of Gekhi, Urus-Martan District of Chechnya, his relatives report.

Kutaev came to Gekhi to visit his relatives. At about two o'clock in the afternoon, armed men dressed in black clothes arrived in the village and took him away to some unknown place, one of Kutaev's relatives said on the condition of anonymity.

The family of the President of the "Assembly of Caucasian Nations" has not yet turned to the police. "We hope that they can still release him," the source told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

He said that Kutaev lives some 20-30 km from the place of detention – in the village of Achkhoy-Martan, and added that Ruslan Kutaev began facing problems immediately after holding in Chechnya on February 18 the scientific conference "Deportation of Chechen nationals. What was it and can we forget it?"
