“ONEArmenia” starts fundraising de-mining vicinity of Karabakh village

The fundraising in the amount of 96,214 US dollars for de-mining a site near the village of Lachin, Shaumyan District of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR), has been launched by the charity organization named “ONEArmenia”.

The campaign "Lachin Without Mines" was launched on February 22 and will last until April 25.

Starting since 1995, in the Lachin Corridor that connects Armenia with the NKR, there were 370 accidents with civilians, who blew themselves on landmines, the “ONEArmenia” reports.

The “ONEArmenia”, which acts jointly with the international charity organization “The HALO Trust”, hopes to clean up an area of 31,839 square meters, located 2.5 km off the village of Megvadzor of mines and other ordnances. According to “The HALO Trust”, the complete de-mining of the NKR may be expected by 2020.

“The HALO Trust” is a British charity and an American non-profit organization engaged in neutralizing the landmines and unexploded ordnances, which may be dangerous for civilians.
