On June 5-11, one person fell victim to armed conflict in Northern Caucasus
In the course of the armed conflict in Northern Caucasus, during the week, from June 5 to June 11, 2017, one person was killed; and no information about the wounded ones was reported. These are the results of the calculations run by the "Caucasian Knot" based on its own materials and information from other open sources.
The casualty was an alleged member of an illegal armed formation (IAF) of Dagestan.
Attacks on law enforcers
At night on June 7, in the Lak District of Dagestan, near the Kumukh-Levashi highway, a local resident attacked a law enforcer. The attacker threw a grenade from an abandoned building, and then opened automatic fire. He was shot dead by return fire. At the scene of the shootout, an unexploded grenade, a Kalashnikov submachine gun and, presumably, an improvised explosive device (IED) were found. Law enforcers were not hurt during the incident. According to preliminary data, the casualty was Magomed Gamaev, a 56-year-old resident of the village of Bakigli of the Lak District.
Attacks on civilians
On June 8, in the Nazran District of Ingushetia, unidentified attackers shelled, presumably from automatic firearms, a car, in which Set-Salim Akhilgov, a Deputy of the People's Assembly, was driving to his workplace. The Deputy and his driver were not hurt.
Detentions
On June 6, it became known that the Muslims, brought to police stations in the course of mass detentions in Makhachkala, were released home. They had their passport data copied, and were fingerprinted. On June 3, power agents detained up to 30 parishioners of the mosque located in General Omarov Street; and at night on June 5, about 90 people were taken to police stations during raids over Salafi mosques and halal cafes. The press service of the republic's Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) said that it had no information about any detentions of mosque parishioners.
