Yerevan: rally of Sargsyan's opponents gathered 15,000 people (+video)
After the rally against the nomination of Serzh Sargsyan for the post of Premier, oppositionists blocked four streets near France Square, and announced that they would stay there for the night. Police units have been brought to the city centre.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that at a rally in Yerevan on April 9, opponents of Serzh Sargsyan announced daily protests against the appointment of the former president as prime minister.
Tonight a rally started in Freedom Square in Yerevan; it was supported by a number of political and social movements.
The rally, which was estimated by organizers as over 15,000 strong, blocked the traffic in four streets near the adjacent France Square, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.
Nikol Pashinyan, the leader of the "Civil Accord" Party, has also announced his intention to block the office of the ruling Republican Party of Armenia on April 14.
Nikol Pashinyan and his supporters, who came to Yerevan today after a two-week "My Step!" walking tour through the cities of Armenia, were welcomed by the rally in Freedom Square with applause and songs. Oppositionists lit up flares and chanted: "Take a step – reject Serzh!" the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.
