In Shakhty, body of fifth victim found at place of explosion

In Shakhty, rescuers found the body of the fifth victim of a house collapse and completed search and rescue operations, the Ministry for Emergencies (MfE) reported.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in the morning on January 14, in Shakhty, an explosion occurred in a multi-storey building, as a result of which four apartments on the eighth and ninth floors collapsed. By the evening on January 15, the bodies of four persons were found under the ruins, while the fate of one more tenants of the house remained unclear. Four victims were hospitalized.

The body of the last victim of the gas explosion was discovered in the apartment building in Shakhty, and the total death toll reached five persons, reports the press service of the MfE's Department for the Rostov Region.

"The body of the fifth victim has been found. The search and rescue operations have been completed," the agency "Interfax" quotes today the spokesperson for man for the MfE's Department for the Rostov Region as reporting.

After the explosion, investigators opened a criminal case under Article 109 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (causing death by negligence).
