CTO in Makhachkala was the first in eight months in Dagestan
The counterterrorist operation (CTO), conducted in Makhachkala, during which law enforcers killed two militants, was the first in Dagestan in the last eight months. The previous CTO was carried out on September 10, 2021, in the Buynaksk District.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported, referring to the Russian FSB, that at night on May 18, the CTO regime was introduced in the Leninsky District of Makhachkala. The Russian National Antiterrorist Committee (NAC) has reported that a terror act was prevented and two persons were killed.
The previous CTO was undertaken by law enforcers on September 10, 2021 in the Buynaksk District near the village of Talgi. According to sources, the casualties were later identified as Urudj Ramazanov and Eiruz Abdulaev.
Then, law enforcers posted a video from the CTO venue. Social network users noted that some belongings owned, according to law enforcers, by assassinated militants, were unlikely of being kept and used in the forest.
The CTO in the Buynaksk District was preceded by the CTO in the Sovietsky District of Makhachkala conducted on March 11, 2021. Then, according to law enforcers, an armed man was killed after he opened fire from inside a private house. He had planned to commit a terror act; and a "suicide belt" was found at the venue of the shootout, the NAC reported then.
Yet before, a CTO was held on February 19, 2019, in the village of Belidji, Derbent District. Law enforcers blocked an alleged member of the "Islamic State" (IS), a terrorist organization banned in Russia, in a private house. He was shot dead in a shootout.
