Priest Pivovarov associates criminal case against him with his message to believers

Viktor Pivovarov, a priest from Slavyansk-on-Kuban, accused of discrediting the Russian Armed Forces, associates criminal proceedings against him with his Christmas message to believers.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that on December 28, it became known that Archbishop of the Russia’s Orthodox Church Viktor (Pivovarov) became involved as a defendant in a criminal case on discrediting the Russian Armed Forces because of his article condemning the special military operation (SMO) in Ukraine.

In October, the Russia’s Orthodox Church reported that searches had taken place in the St. Intercession-Tikhon Church in Slavyansk-on-Kuban, which, according to the preliminary information, were related to the repeated discrediting of the Russian Army by Archbishop Viktor (Pivovarov).

The criminal case has been instituted under the article on repeated discrediting of the Russian Armed Forces, reports Archbishop Viktor Pivovarov. He explained that the criminal case was instituted because of his article “The answer to the question that worries everyone today: what this war is?” posted on his website in October. The article was his “Christmas message” to believers, the priest states. He faces up to seven years of imprisonment.

Let us remind you that in March, the Slavyansk-on-Kuban City Court fined Viktor Pivovarov under the administrative article on discrediting the Russian Armed Forces.
