Nineteen-year-old Volgograd resident accused of high treason

FSB officers detained a 19-year-old resident of Volgograd at the local airport when he tried to leave for Turkey. Investigators have charged the detained young man with high treason, as they suggest that he was transferring money to a charitable foundation created by the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

According to the investigators’ version, the detained resident of Volgograd repeatedly used his mobile phone to enter a website of the charitable foundation created by the Security Service of Ukraine (known as SBU) and the Armed Forces of Ukraine (known as VSU) to raise money for the purchase of firearms, means of destruction, technical means, and their use against the security of Russia.

“During the period from July to December 2023, the suspect was repeatedly transferring money to assist the Armed Forces of Ukraine,” reported Victoria Yamschikova, an officer of the press service for the FSB Department for the Volgograd Region, as quoted by the “Vysota 102” news agency.

On April 4, 2023, it became known that the Rostov Regional Court sentenced Yevgeny Nikiforov, a resident of the Volgograd Region, to 6.5 years of imprisonment. According to the investigators’ version, Yevgeny Nikiforov planned to participate in battles against the Russian troops in Ukraine.
