Professor Alan Chochiev articled in North Osetia for kindling interethnic strife
The Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of North Osetia informed on Monday, November 17, that Doctor of Historical Science Alan Chochiev was articled for kindling interethnic strife (Article 282 of the Russian Criminal Code) and slander (Article 129 of the Russian Criminal Code). The criminal action against Alan Chochiev was caused by his open letter in which he asked to condemn Georgian President Eduard Shevardnadze for "carrying out a pro-fascist policy raised to the state level in the republic." Besides, in his letter spread by some local media, Chochiev called upon the Georgian authorities "to acknowledge the genocide of the Osetins committed in Georgia in the early 1990s." Now Chochiev is arrested with the court sanction.
