Prosecutors-auditors appear at MHG office

Today, employees from the inspecting bodies – the Prosecutor's Offices and the Ministry of Justice – appeared at the office of Russia's oldest human rights organization – the Moscow Helsinki Group (MHG).

"They've inspected everyone; now they've come to us; they behave politely," said the head of the MHG Lyudmila Alekseeva.

According to her story, the visitors ask to submit reports of the MHG. "Is it pressure? Perhaps, it is, like on everybody. The point is that at some human rights organizations they are ruder than in others," the "Interfax" quotes Ms Alekseeva as saying.

"The documents they ask contain nothing new. Anyway, if the officials are looking for any evidence that we are agents of a foreign country, they won't find it. Because we are not agents," the RBC quotes the lady.

Human rights activists of the MHG participate in campaigns related to Northern Caucasus, in particular, focusing on disappearances in Dagestan and defence of prisoners' rights in the North-Caucasian Federal District (NCFD).
