Georgia refuses to buy Russian gas until the end of 2018
Georgia, which had purchased 100 million cubic meters of natural gas from Russia before March 2017, has no plans to buy it in 2018, the "Georgiainform" has reported today, citing Dmitry Kumsishvili, the Georgia's Minister of Economy.
According to the natural gas balance for 2018, approved by the government, almost the whole natural gas supply to Georgia (99.65%) will come from Azerbaijan. Georgia plans to purchase 1.866 billion cubic meters from the SOCAR, and 813 million cubic meters from the "Shakh-Deniz" gas field. The remaining 0.35% or 9.41 million cubic meters will be extracted locally.
In 2018, Georgia plans to increase the gas import from Azerbaijan by 12.2% compared with 2017, the "Prime" has reported today.
