DOJ reports citizenship of men accused of smuggling firearms from US to Chechnya

Two residents of the city of Alexandria, arrested on February 27 on the charge of buying more than 100 items of firearms to be sent to Chechnya, are citizens of Kyrgyzstan, the US Department of Justice (DOJ) reports. According to investigators, three out of the four parcels with firearms were sent by them to Grozny.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on February 27, the US Department of Justice reported the arrests of 28-year-old Tengiz Sydykov and 27-year-old Eldar Rezvanov on the charge of arms smuggling, conspiracy to smuggle goods from the United States, fraud and money laundering. In the report of the US Department of Justice, the suspects were called natives of Chechnya.

According to the updated message of February 27, posted on the US Department of Justice's website, Tengiz Sydykov and Eldar Rezvanov are citizens of Kyrgyzstan.

In total, the suspects spent 5000 US dollars to buy components of firearms, states a testimony provided to the court by Michael Gruchash, a special agent of the Department of Homeland Security, the "Kommersant" reports on February 28.

According to the agent, the firearms Glock pistols were disassembled and submitted to a post office in four parcels, addressed to different places in Russia and Kyrgyzstan. Three out of the four parcels were addressed to Grozny.
