Azerbaijani pilgrims face hike in expenses for Hajj by 300 US dollars

In 2018, in Azerbaijan, the expenses for a trip for the Hajj reached 4150 US dollars. That is 300 US dollars higher than in 2017. For those believers who commit the Hajj for the second or further time, the expenses increase by 535 US dollars. This was told to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent on March 2 by an official of the Pilgrimage Affairs Division at the Department of the Caucasus Muslims Office.

In 2018, in accordance with the agreement with Saudi Arabia, the quota for Azerbaijan will amount to 1200 pilgrims. By March 1, applications were submitted by more than 350 believers, the official noted.

In recent years, the expenses for trips to the Hajj have been growing steadily, but despite that, interest in going for the Hajj does not fall, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by Tofiq Turkel, a religious observer of the agency "Turan".

"In fact, in the past year, the deadline for submission of the documents was extended several times, and finally, the quota was replenished and even increased. No matter how high the prices are, for years many believers dream and plan to go for the Hajj and do not spare money for that. All the true believers wish to follow all the precepts of Islam," noted the religious observer.
