Araz Galimov, the deputy chief of the Dagestani customs, has been detained after searches in his house on suspicion of smuggling. This has been reported today by a source from the law enforcement bodies for Dagestan.

"Law enforcers conducted searches in the house of Araz Galimov, the deputy chief of the Dagestani customs. After the search, the official was detained," the RIA "Novosti" quoted the source as reporting.

Investigators suggest that Araz Galimov could have been involved in smuggling and drug trafficking across the border of Dagestan with Azerbaijan, the RBC reports with reference to a source close to the Dagestani government.
