Nalchik activists urge authorities to repair apartment to a family with a disabled person

17 years ago, in exchange for the old housing, the family of Tatiana Alkhazova, a resident of Nalchik, with one of members disabled since childhood, was granted an apartment from the authorities with windows filled with plywood and without heating. Over the years, the family has not succeeded in bringing housing into proper condition, Tatiana Alkhazova stated.

"We were settled in completely unsuitable housing. The windows were boarded up with pieces of plywood using boards crosswise, like during the war. There were no stove, no faucets, and no bathroom," Tatiana Alkhazova told the Caucasian Knot correspondent on January 23.

The woman noted she had repeatedly appealed to the Nalchik administration to complain about the condition of the apartment, but with no results.

On January 23, a petition was posted on the "change.org" portal with the demand to the authorities to help the family of Tatiana Alkhazova, who lived with her son disabled since childhood and a brother.

Alla Sannikova, one of the authors of the petition, told the "Caucasian Knot" that she witnessed how Tatiana Alkhazova and her son were transferred to No. 3 in Shalushkinskaya Street, which, according to her, "was not suitable for living."

The activist noted that in 2016, she and other members of the Nalchik Women's Council went out with posters in their hands to the square in support of the Alkhazova family. The activists appealed to Mikhail Fedotov, the head of the presidential Human Rights Council, but no result followed.
