A man detained after shelling of believers in Kizlyar refuses to confess to a crime

Magomedrasul Gadjiev, a resident of Kizlyar, who was detained after believers had been shelled, refused to confess to possession of ammunition and explosives at home. Earlier, he had confessed to storing rounds and hexogen under pressure from law enforcers and threat of killing, said his advocate Anvar Askhabov.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on February 18, 22-year-old Khalil Khalilov shot and killed people near the Orthodox Church in Kizlyar. Five women were killed, and other four people were hospitalized. The attacker himself was killed. On February 19, in Kizlyar, law enforcers detained at least two local residents Magomedrasul Gadjiev and Magomed Sagitov. Relatives of the detainees claimed they were not guilty.

Anvar Askhabov, an advocate of Magomedrasul Gadjiev, said that his client was detained after law enforcers found his mobile phone number among the Khalil Khalilov's contacts. By that time, a search had already been carried out in his house, where, according to law enforcers, they found 43 rounds, hexogen, and drugs.

"Law enforcers understood that Magomedrasul Gadjiev did not participate in anything (connected with the attack on the believers) and suggested that he would recognize the possession of rounds and hexogen. Since Magomedrasul Gadjiev is a II Category Invalid, they assured him that he would get only a suspended sentence, otherwise they threatened to charge him with complicity in crime or murder 'while providing resistance' ... The guy was scared and agreed to make a confession," said Anvar Askhabov.
