Film by KBR filmmaker included into US festival programme

The film "Goryanki" (Female Highlanders) by a film director from the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (KBR) has been chosen to take part in the American documentary film contest.

The film was directed by Maryam Makhieva, a KBR native; her documentary was marked as the best documentary at the All-Russian Film Festival "The Man Who Is Knowing the World". It has also been shortlisted for several international festivals, including the Fiorenzo Serra Film Festival in Italy, says the message.

The American Documentary Film Festival is planned to be held in Palm Springs on March 26-30, 2021, the RIA "KBR" informs. The film raises issues of feminism and a conflict of national traditions with the religion in Northern Caucasus. It tells about the life of several North-Caucasian women, who became successful – one of them climbed the Elbrus several times; the other has headed her own laboratory.
