Azerbaijan claims shelling on Armenian border

Armenian militaries have shelled the Azerbaijani positions located near the Nakhichevan Autonomous Republic (NAR), as well as in the Gadabay and Kelbadjar Districts, the Azerbaijani Ministry of Defence (MoD) has informed.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Armenia and Azerbaijan periodically blame each other of shelling. Thus, in the evening on August 17, it became known that an Armenian serviceman was wounded as a result of shelling from Azerbaijan in Gegarkunik.

In the evening on August 17, Armenian militaries shelled the positions of their Azerbaijani counterparts located in the NAR direction, the Azerbaijani MoD has reported.

"Also, on August 17, from 9:55 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. on August 18, Armenian militaries kept shelling, from their positions stationed in the villages of Basarkecher of the Basarkecher District, and Shishgai of the Chemberk District, and on the nameless heights, the Azerbaijani positions in the direction of the village of Galakend of the Kedabek District (also referred to by media as the Gadabay District, – note of the "Caucasian Knot"), and of the village of Istisu, Kelbadjar District, the APA News Agency has quoted today the message of the Azerbaijani MoD.

Azerbaijani militaries opened return fire; no one was killed or wounded, the report said.
