Blogger from Baksan suspected of aiding terrorist activities

In the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (KBR), law enforcers have detained Insa Lander, a blogger. According to her acquaintances, the court has placed the girl under house arrest on suspicion of aiding terrorist activities.

Insa Lander, a female blogger, was detained on December 9 in the city of Baksan and brought to the police station in Nalchik; later, the court ruled to place her under house arrest until February 2022, Sonia Grese, Insa's friend, has informed.

"We learned about her detention from a colleague who said that Insa failed to answer the morning phone call at work. They began looking for her relatives' contacts; and they said that at five in the morning in Baksan people in masks and with submachine guns came to Insa and offered to follow them; the girl was taken to Nalchik," the "Insider"* quotes Sonia Grese as saying.

Insa is charged with assisting terrorist activities (Article 205.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).

"We are all in shock regarding the Article and the charges. We have no suggestions of whatever reasons could be," said Sonia Grese in surprise.

Today, the "OVD-Info"* has explained that Insa Lander had spent several months investigating the activities of a high-ranking KBR official. She was preparing a publication about the alleged leakage of money from a charitable fund, where the above official was one of the bosses. The "OVD-Info"* has not named the state servant.

*The organizations (editions) have been included by the Russian Ministry of Justice (MoJ) into the list of the foreign media performing the functions of a foreign agent.
