Armenia refutes Azerbaijan's claim about border shootout

The Azerbaijani Ministry of Defence (MoD) has stated today that Armenian military servicemen shelled, from the border area of the Vardenis District, the positions of Azerbaijani soldiers located in the Kelbadjar District.

"In the evening on May 9, units of the Armenian Armed Forces intermittently shelled, from the village of Azizli in the Basarkechar District, the positions of the Azerbaijani Army located near the dwelling settlement of Yukhari Ayrim in the Kelbadjar District," the Azeri MoD asserts in its statement sent to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

Azerbaijani militaries opened returned fire; there were no casualties or wounded persons among them, the MoD has added.

In its turn, the Armenian MoD has refuted the Azerbaijan's statement about the border shootout. "Azerbaijan has once again made a statement that has nothing to do with reality," the refutation claims.

According to the Armenian MoD, the situation on the border is "relatively calm and is under complete control."
