Residents of Rustavi hold a rally against environmental pollution

About 200 people held a protest action in Rustavi, where they demanded from enterprises to reduce the amount of harmful emissions into the atmosphere and complained about the deterioration in the health of local residents because of polluted air.

Residents of Rustavi held a protest action under the slogan: “We are suffocating, we are asking for fresh air.” The protest action was organized by the “Gavigudet” (We are suffocating) movement, and the protestors demanded from the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia to release a schedule to indicate when and at what enterprises filters and a monitoring system for harmful emissions into the atmosphere will appear, the “Rustavi-2” TV Channel reports on its website today.

The protesters say that in Rustavi, particulate matter in air exceed the legal limit significantly, which is dangerous to health. About 200 people took part in the protest action. Environmental activists sent a petition to the Georgian Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, the “Mtavari Arkhi” TV Channel reports on its website today.
