Defence points to contradictions in statements of prosecution witness in case against Dagestani journalist Gadjiev

At a court hearing in the case against Abdulmumin Gadjiev, Abubakar Rizvanov, and Kemal Tambiev, a secret prosecution witness found it difficult to remember her testimony, which she had given to an investigator. The defence pointed out that the witness gave the investigator detailed information, including the dates of birth of people unknown to her, but complained about her memory at the court hearing.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that colleagues of Abdulmumin Gadjiev, a journalist of the weekly newspaper “Chernovik” (Rough Draft), considered the criminal case against him to be persecution. They regularly hold actions in support of him. On February 10, prosecution witnesses retracted their testimonies at trial.

Abdulmumin Gadjiev, a journalist of the newspaper “Chernovik”, as well as Abubakar Rizvanov, the head of the “Ansar” charity foundation, and Kemal Tambiev, have been charged with financing terrorism.

On June 9, the Rostov District Military Court continued hearing on the case against Abdulmumin Gadjiev, Abubakar Rizvanov, and Kemal Tambiev. During the hearing, the court listened to a secret prosecution witness under the pseudonym Marina Ivanova, as well as to investigator Nadir Televov.

The defender of Abdulmumin Gadjiev pointed to the numerous refusals of the witness to answer questions from both the public prosecutor and the defence.
