Twenty families from Akhavno and Berdzor accommodated in Syunik Region

Most of the residents of the dwelling settlements of the Lachin Corridor, who were ordered to leave their houses before August 25, decided to settle in the Syunik Region of Armenia; 20 families have already been settled there, local authorities have informed.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that by the evening of August 20, all the residents remaining in the community of Nerkin Sus, and several families remaining in Berdzor (the Azerbaijani name is Lachin) and Akhavno (Zabukh). The territories will be handed over to Azerbaijan on August 25.

"In late August, certificates for the purchase of apartments will be prepared for the evacuated families. They will be settled in the settlements they wish," Victoria Petrosyan, the press secretary of the Nagorno-Karabakh Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructures, said, as reported by the "Armenpress".

According to Ms Petrosyan, most residents of Berdzor (Lachin) and Akhavno (Zabukh) decided to settle in the Syunik Region of Armenia; some moved to the settlements where they have relatives.

Armine Avagyan, an assistant to the Governor of Syunik, said that 20 families from Berdzor (Lachin) and Akhavno (Zabukh) expressed a desire to settle in this region.

Azerbaijan has reported that Russian peacemakers are dismantling posts in the Lachin Corridor; they will continue their service on another road, the APA reports.

Narek Alexanyan, the Mayor of Berdzor, has added that 160 people left Berdzor (Lachin), specifying that residents have not yet received apartment certificates that they are entitled to after leaving, the "Armenia Today" writes.

Let us remind you that on August 20, Azerbaijani fire-fighters arrived in Lachin, along with Russian peacemakers, after two villagers had burned down their houses before evacuation.
