Residents of Ingush villages complain about regular problems with water supply

During the summer months, in Malgobek and Nazran Districts, villagers have to buy drinking water and get it from springs due to interruptions in the water supply, although water supply fees are still charged, local residents complain.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that since May, water has been supplied with interruptions in the village of Inarki in the Malgobek District, and since July, due to the heat, no water at all had been supplied, local resident Rukiyat Kartoeva said on August 22.

Two water carriers make three or four trips to Malgobek, from where they bring drinking water, the “Caucasian Knot” correspondent was told by Vakha Kotiev, a resident of the rural settlement of Inarki. “A line for water has formed in the village, and its progress is being monitored by Adam Kotiev, the head of the rural settlement. While we are waiting for a water carrier, we have to buy water in a store,” Vakha Kotiev said.

“Do you think we are the only poor fellows cut off from the water supply? Here we are in close proximity to the village of Psedakh. They have the same situation picture there. We have one head in charge of water: MUE (Municipal Unitary Enterprise) ‘Vodokanal of the Malgobek Municipal District’. It seems to me that this organization’s main occupation is to charge us debts when we do not pay for water on time. And what must we pay for? For the fact that we have been sitting without water for the whole summer?” local resident Mikail told the “Caucasian Knot” correspondent. The local resident specified that all houses in the Inarki village are connected to pipes, through which water should flow.

According to Adam Kotiev, the head of the rural settlement, from May 30 to September inclusive, water shortage in the Inarki village reaches 80-90 percent. “And this has been going on for the last 15-20 years. However, having recognized the fact of the shortage of water, the heads of the district ‘Vodokanal’ have not recalculated the fees for water supply and not stopped accruing debts for these summer months,” Adam Kotiev said.
