Temirkhan Amakhanov, resident of Dagestan, achieves punishment of law enforcers for grievous bodily harm

A court in Derbent has found the law enforcers, Gasan Adalov and Magomed Yunusov, guilty of causing grievous bodily harm to Temirkhan Amakhanov, a local resident, and sentenced them to four years in jail each.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that, according to Temirkhan Amakhanov, a resident of the city of Derbent, in April 2016, two policemen broke into his house. He asserted that law enforcers had attacked him, and when he began to defend himself, one of them fired a pistol. For several years, Amakhanov had tried to initiate a criminal case against these policemen; and only in 2019, after repeated complaints about investigator's inaction, the policemen were called in for abuse of power.

The Derbent City Court has found Gasan Adalov and Magomed Yunusov, employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), guilty, and sentenced them to four years of freedom deprivation each, the "Novoe Delo" outlet reports.

Temirkhan Amakhanov had complained to law enforcement bodies about the illegal, in his opinion, construction of a multi-storey building. But instead of checking his complaint, law enforcers, according to his story, broke into his house and beat him and his wife up.

A year later, law enforcers took him to the division, where they beat him so severely that Amakhanov had his spleen removed. For three years, Temirkhan had sought to initiate a criminal case against the above law enforcers. He also complained about threats in connection with his demands to punish the attackers. When the case went to trial, the defendants refused to plead guilty.
