Life prisoners go on hunger strike again in Azerbaijan
The inmates of the Gobustan Prison in Azerbaijan sentenced to life imprisonment have started a hunger strike in protest against their custody conditions.
The relatives of the inmates have informed the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that seven more prisoners joined the hunger strike, initially started by eight life inmates.
The inmates of this prison are protesting against the actions of the new head of the establishment Kyazymi Abdullaev, which were regarded by the participants of the protest action to be illegal.
On January 6, the action was started Elchin Amiraslanov, former commander of the Gazakh OPON (Special Police Unit), and his cellmate Farrukh Karamov. On January 7, Shakir Rzakhanov and his new cellmate - Chechen Musa Dabuev - joined them.
The administration of the Gobustan Prison asserts that only two inmates are hunger-striking.
