The Prosecutor's Office of the city of Nalchik has sent replies to the widows of the militants who were killed in the attack on October 13, 2005, in which the actions of militiamen are treated as illegal.
In particular, the replies run that "the Nalchik Prosecutor's Office has conducted an additional check under your application on wrongful actions of the officials of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (KBR), namely, repeated summons of the widows to the 2nd OVD (Militia Station) of Nalchik, making searches in residences, photographing and unjustified fingerprinting."
By results of consideration of widows' complaints, "a presentation was also brought to the command of the 3rd OVD on bringing militiamen to disciplinary responsibility for violations of the legislation in force. At the same time the Nalchik Prosecutor's Office has refused to initiate criminal proceedings for breaching official powers.
The widows also asked to remove them from operative registration. To this end, the official reply runs that "on the issue of removal from operative registration" they should address the UBOP (Organized Crime Combating Unit) of the KBR's MIA.
