Office to help China earthquake victims opened in North Ossetia
Today, the Ministry for Matters of Youth, Physical Culture and Sports of North Ossetia has opened an office with the aim to render assistance to the victims of the earthquake in China.
The Board of the Ministry has addressed representatives of youth NGOs, collectives of higher and secondary educational institutions and sports community to respond to the tragedy and make donations in favour of the victims.
"In September 2004, residents of the Sichuan province, now in friendly and good business relations with North Ossetia, were among the first to react to the tragedy in School 1 of Beslan, and then supported us during those heavy days. And today our human duty is to pay back assistance to our Chinese friends. Feelings of compassion to those in trouble and readiness to stretch a helpful hand have ever been notable for the multinational people of North Ossetia," runs the statement of the Ministry for Matters of Youth, Physical Culture and Sports of North Ossetia.
It is known already that on May 12-13 the People's Republic of China suffered from a strongest earthquake that had the magnitude of 7.8 points in its epicentre. Only in the Sichuan province, where the epicentre was identified, over 10,000 persons were killed as a result of underground shocks. The destiny of several tens thousand persons is still unknown.
