Man rejected at Endocrinology Centre dies in Kabardino-Balkaria

On July 1, in Nalchik, the capital of Kabardino-Balkaria, Vladimir Arakelov, 54, a resident of Zelenograd, Moscow Region, died because the medical aid was not promptly rendered. Bella Arakelova, the victim's spouse, has informed the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent about the incident.

Ms Arakelova said that the couple arrived to Nalchik to visit their relatives on June 25. On June 29, they had some celebration, during which Vladimir Arakelov drank some alcohol.

"All of a sudden, he felt very bad," said Bella Arakelova. "He felt sharp pains in his breast and stomach. Earlier my husband had two heart attacks and he suffered from diabetes."

They called an ambulance, and the doctors measured the sugar level in blood by the express test method. The level was critical - at 20. The patient was taken to the Republic's Endocrinology Centre.

"The doctor who was on duty at the reception began asserting that the patient had alcoholic intoxication. I tried to convince her that he was a diabetic patient and that urgent measures were required to drop the sugar level in blood. However, she insisted on her version and sent us to the narcology hospital," Ms Arakelova said.

As she remembers, the doctors at the narcology hospital tried to help him, but his condition was no better.

"We were sent back to the Endocrinology Centre, but there, they categorically refused to accept the patient," Bella Arakelova asserts.

Later, the relatives tried to call the ambulance again, but it never came, and they took her husband, who was already in an extremely grave condition, to the Republic's Hospital in the sitting posture in an ordinary car.

Doctors of the Republic's Hospital took resuscitation measures, but they already were fruitless. On July 1, at 4:00 the patient died.
