In May 2022, two persons shot dead during armed conflict in Northern Caucasus

In May 2022, during the ongoing armed conflict in Northern Caucasus, two men were shot dead; there were no reports about any wounded persons. These are the results of the calculations run by the "Caucasian Knot" based on its own materials and information from open sources.

On May 18, at 2:45 a.m. Moscow time, the counterterrorist operation (CTO) regime was introduced in the territory of the Leninsky District of Makhachkala. A law enforcement source reported that two alleged militants were killed during the operation; and an improvised explosive device (IED) was found at the venue.

Those killed during the CTO had been preparing a terror act at one of energy facilities, the Russian National Antiterrorism Committee (NAC) has informed, adding that nobody suffered from among law enforcers and the civilian population.

This statistics cannot present the count of victims with 100-percent accuracy. Not all the data gets into news bulletins. It is not always possible to verify the statements of law enforcement bodies; and new data on the events that occurred in the reporting period sometimes become known after the publication of another portion of statistics by the "Caucasian Knot".

Earlier, in April 2022, no victims were reported during the armed conflict in Northern Caucasus.
