Chechen native, detained after terror act at Crocus City Hall, dies at regional police station in Moscow

Askhab Uspanov, a native of Chechnya, was detained in Moscow after the terror act at the Crocus City Hall concert hall and died several hours after the detention, his mother said. The woman claims that her son was tortured before his death. Telegram channels opposed to the Chechen authorities supported the version of torture by posting a video showing signs of injuries on the Askhab Uspanov’s body.

According to the official information as of April 2, 144 people were killed as a result of the terror act. Ten people were detained on suspicion of involvement in the terror act.

A Telegram channels reports that the native of Chechnya was detained on the night of March 22 immediately after the terror act. As the “Agency” channel reported, after his detention, Askhab Uspanov called his mother, said that he had been rude to law enforcers, and asked to come. When a wife of Askhab Uspanov arrived at the police department two hours later, the law enforcers told her that he had died.

The mother of Askhab Uspanov believes that her son could not be involved in the terror act.

“The video clearly shows traces of brutal beatings. The guy was simply beaten to death,” noted blogger Tumso Abdurakhmanov.
