Police treat the death of Askhab Uspanov, detained after the terror act at Crocus City Hall, as suicide

The detention of Askhab Uspanov had nothing to do with the terror act at Crocus City Hall; and law enforcers treat his death at the police station as suicide, the Chechen Ombudsperson has stated.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Askhab Uspanov, a native of Chechnya, was detained in Moscow after the above terror act and died a few hours later. According to his mother, he was tortured before his death.

Mansur Soltaev, the Chechen Ombudsperson, has stated that Askhab's uncle had turned to him with a request to check the circumstances of his nephew's death. "According to relatives, Askhab could not have been involved in the terror act in the Crocus. <...> He was detained several hours before the terror act," Soltaev wrote in his Telegram channel, treating any attempts to link Uspanov's detention and death with the terror act in the Crocus City Hall as a provocation.

"According to the official version, Uspanov committed suicide," Mansur Soltaev has stated, noting that he would insist on conducting a check.
