Panuashvili: main traumas at dispersal of opposition in Georgia were caused by rubber bullets

As a result of clashes in Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia, in the evening on May 6, main traumas in the victims were caused by shots of special pistols and guns using traumatic bullets. This was stated by Soso Panuashvili, representative of the organization named "Human Rights" in Tbilisi.

"According to the latest official information, in the course of the clash near the building of Patrol Police 29 persons were wounded. The main injuries were caused by rubber bullets, and also by bullets, similar to rubber ones, but made of plastic. The police shot at demonstrators at the central police building," Mr Panuashvili said to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

According to his story, injuries were caused mainly because the gunmen aimed at the heads. "That is why the victims have wounds in the heads and areas near the heads. Some policemen were also slightly wounded, when demonstrators threw stones at them and used sticks. But none of the policemen was seriously wounded," said Soso Panuashvili.

He added that victim Georgiy Gachechiladze, despite his serious injuries - several broken ribs and backbone tip and head wounds, - has already returned into his "cell".

"He received these injuries when got over the fence into the yard of the police building and was attacked by 20 special agents, who beat him severely. But they didn't detain him, and let him go," the observer has emphasized.

Soso Panuashvili has reiterated the use rubber bullets, as he was personally present there, and he was also a target.
