Ambassador of South Ossetia to Russia: picket in Moscow was held not by opposition, but by people feeling offended by authorities

In the opinion of Dmitri Medoev, Plenipotentiary Ambassador of South Ossetia to the Russian Federation, opposition exists in the republic, but all of them are in Tskhinvali; however, those people who hold actions in Moscow are not opposition.

According to the Ambassador, he has all information about the picket held in Moscow.

"There's no opposition to the authorities of South Ossetia in Moscow. South Ossetia has its opposition, like any democratic state, but oppositionists are in Tskhinvali, where they have all opportunities to express their opinion, hold rallies and marches, make publications in the press - anywhere. Those people, who are named by some media as opposition, aren't such. It's just a group of offended persons, who left their republic for different reasons and in different time and now reside in Moscow and other cities of Russia," Dmitri Medoev said on May 21 in a press conference in Moscow.

"As to the statements of the so-called oppositionists regarding appeals to the Russian Federation, they are groundless and legally insolvent, because the Russian Federation and South Ossetia are independent subjects of the international law. They are sovereign states with their own laws," said Dmitri Medoev, who expressed his surprise why this opposition "does not appeal to their own people."
