President of Armenia ready to announce amnesty to oppositionists

Today at the celebratory event on the occasion of the Day of the First Republic of Armenia, President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan has emphasized his readiness to announce amnesty to the oppositionists arrested in the course of mass disorders in Yerevan on March 1-2, 2008.

According to the President, one of these days he will submit an amnesty proposal to the National Assembly for consideration, as reported by the "Gazeta.Ru".

"The previous amnesty was announced in 2006, and if now, three years later, the society is ripe with the idea of a new amnesty act, I'm ready to use my constitutional right," said President Sargsyan, as quoted by the IA "News-Armenia".
