Makhachkala court appoints hearing of "Chernovik" case on June 24

Judge of the Leninskiy Court of Makhachkala Zainutdin Madanov has decided to appoint hearing of the criminal case against journalists of the Dagestan newspaper "Chernovik" (Blueprint) accused under Article 282 of Russian Criminal Code ("Kindling of hatred or enmity, or humiliation of human dignity") for tomorrow, June 24, at 10 a.m.

The defendants are Nadira Isaeva, Arthur Mamaev, Timur Mustafaev, Magomed Magomedov and Biyakai Magomedov. One of them - Magomed Magomedov - told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that the hearings should pass with participation of the public prosecutor, defendants and advocates.

He has noted that it will be a preliminary and organizational hearing, and it will not hamper in any way the work of the paper.

"According to our data, most likely, the prosecution will ask the court to send the criminal case to additional investigation. The point is that at the stage of inquiry and delivery of our case to the court, the Investigatory Department for Dagestan of the Investigatory Committee at the Prosecutor's Office (ICPO) of the Russian Federation admitted a negligence - they failed to establish the scene of crime, and Igor Tkachov, Public Prosecutor of Dagestan, when signing the indictment, did not or would not pay attention to this point. Our lawyers have revealed this fact and addressed the court asking to fix the jurisdiction," said Magomed Magomedov.
