Georgian opposition stops picketing Saakashvili's residence

Starting today, the opposition of Georgia has stopped their picket at the Avlabar residence of President Mikhail Saakashvili, which lasted for about 70 days. According to the information of the press service of the "Movements for United Georgia", the picket was lifted in order to defend oppositionists against arrest and political persecution.

However, as reported by the "Gazeta.Ru", the statement of the opposition notes that they have enough resources to go on with the picketing, and their demand of Saakashvili's resignation holds good.

Meanwhile, on June 24, President of Georgia announced a threat of external intervention into Georgia's home affairs. According to his story, "for this purpose, they use people who live in Russia and are linked with Russian special agencies." Mr Saakashvili has again suggested the opposition to settle problems through dialogue, as reported by the IA "News-Georgia".
