Adygs are against restoration of monument to Admiral Lazarev

The Congress of the International Circassian Association decided to appeal to the President of the Russian Federation and all leaders of the South Federal District against the attempts to restore the monument to Admiral Lazarev in the village of Lazarevskoye, a compact residence of one of the Adyg people ? the Shapsugi of the Black Sea.

The appeal says the decision of the Local Government Council of Sochi does not meet the principles and norms common to all mankind for Admiral Lazarev directly participated in military actions against the native Adyg population that caused their mass death.

    Alexander Gongadze Volny Ross, a Ukrainian citizen, who has served his sentence for organizing a wheelchair run in the town of Kamyshin, will be deported from Russia. He and his wife were fined for violating migration laws; and their deportation is expected next week despite the possibility of persecution in their homeland due to their pro-Russian position.
