In Armenia, ANC starts registry of human rights violations
In the near future, the oppositional Armenian National Congress (ANC) will start a special registry for gathering all the information about violations of citizens' constitutional rights and freedoms by Armenian authorities, as announced by Gagik Dzhangiryan, work coordinator of the ANC's Legal Defence Centre and former deputy general public prosecutor and former political prisoner.
"The registry will be a guarantee of our readiness to adequately react to human rights violations; with this data in hand we'll be able to bring those guilty to responsibility. The registry is intended for future authorities of Armenia, who will undertake all the necessary lawful actions in relation to those, whose rights were prejudiced," said Mr Dzhangiryan.
The former deputy public prosecutor gave his estimate to the law-enforcement system of Armenia: "Once becoming a captive of this system, a citizen has no chances to oppose it. Even if during my time as a prosecutor the judicial-legal system had certain deficiencies, I can't remember this scale of violations. All I suffered and lived through in prison has become helpful information for me. I wouldn't recommend others to experience something like that."
