Georgian Foreign Minister: "Tbilisi is ready to provide refugees' participation in presidential election in Chechnya"

Georgian Foreign Minister Irakly Menagarishvili reported to journalists Tbilisi was ready to provide participation in the presidential election in Chechnya for Chechen refugees staying on the territory of Georgia. If Russia addresses Georgia with such a request, the Chechen refugees, being the citizens of Russia, will participate in the Chechen presidential election in conformity with the norms of the international law, remarked the Minister.

About 3.6 thousand Chechen refugees are currently living on the territory of Georgia, nearly 80% of them are closely packed in the villages of the Pankissi Gorge.
