Sochi court satisfies teenagers' claims against OMON fighters
On August 3, the Lazarevskoe District Court of Sochi satisfied the claims for damage compensation lodged by ten young men, who were beaten by Sochi OMON (Special Militia) fighters in July 2006. To victims will get from 10 to 50 thousand roubles.
Earlier it became known that eleven victims in the criminal case on the crimes of the fighters decided to enjoy their right for moral compensation.
As reported by the representative of the human rights organization "Committee against Torture", only the claim lodged by Roman Adamyan was left without satisfaction - the Prosecutor's Office could not establish the OMON fighter who caused damage to Roman. Based on this fact, the victim was rejected compensation; however, the suffered party is going to appeal against this decision.
The above Committee remarks that the compensation sums awarded by the Lazarevskoe Court are much less than the victims demanded.
