Husband of Chechen human rights defender could be killed for participation in Basaev's grouping

The murder of Alik Dzhabrailov, husband of Zarema Sadulayeva, committed in Chechnya, may, probably, stem from the days, when he was a member of the grouping subordinated to Shamil Basaev.

The "Life.ru" writes that Alik Dzhabrailov, also known as "Rizvan", had hundreds of enemies in Chechnya. First of all, these are relatives of those, whom his grouping under command of Taus Udaev had liquidated in the course of their operations.

The grouping, where he was a member, was engaged in subversive and terrorist acts against law enforcers and federal servicemen and gathered intelligence data about routes and deployment of militaries.

Earlier, the version of a blood feud murder was already announced by the Investigatory Department of the Investigatory Committee at the Prosecutor's Office (ICPO) of the Russian Federation and President of Chechnya Ramzan Kadyrov.

However, independent observers are rather sceptical to this version. In particular, the Suddeutsche Zeitung writes that this next murder of human rights activists in Chechnya is followed by a very routine and familiar ritual: languid indignation of western politicians, empty statements of Russian inspectors, promising to open the case quickly; however, everybody knows that it will never happen.

The greatest indignation, as the paper writes, is caused by behaviour of Chechen President Ramzan Kadyrov. Every time, when one of his critics is lost, he views the incident, first of all, as an aggression against himself. This time also Kadyrov complained that someone wished to do harm to him, as if he is actually the victim. And Kadyrov's opponents perish one after another not only in Chechnya, but also in Moscow, Dubai or Vienna.
