US military instructors arrive to Georgia
The first group of military instructors from the USA has arrived to Georgia to start training, as of September 1, a Georgian infantry battalion for participation in peacemaking operations in Afghanistan.
Bryan Whitman, the spokesman of the Pentagon, said in Washington that the number of marine instructors sent to train Georgian peacemakers will make 60-70 in the next six months, as reported by the ITAR-TASS.
It is supposed that Georgian militaries will go to Afghanistan not earlier than March 2010. The New York Times writes that the Pentagon hopes that the new mission will not cause any criticism from Moscow.
