Krasnodar Territory: repeated court session appointed on NCHR case

On September 17, a court sitting on suspension of the activity of Novorossisk Committee on Human Rights (NCHR) was held in the Krasnodar Territory. A repeated session was appointed. A number of Russian cities have launched solidarity campaigns with the NCHR.

"A court hearing took place on our case. Vavilova, assistant of public prosecutor, has supported the application of the Novorossisk Prosecutor's Office to summon the head of the NCHR Tamara Karastelyova to clear out the links between the NGO 'Frodo', where she works, grants on the work of this NGO and protest rallies against introduction of 'children curfew' in Novorossisk," said Vadim Karastelyov, an expert of the NCHR.

According to Mr Karastelyov, the NCHR has moved a petition, in its turn, to summon the school director, who had evidenced to the Prosecutor's Office that the NCHR had campaigned among pupils of this school, which, according to Karastelyov, has nothing to do with reality. Also, human rights activist petitioned at the court to summon the two pupils of the 9th form, whose evidences had formed the grounds for the Prosecutor's Office to initiate the investigation against the NCHR.

"It'll become known on September 20, whether our petitions are satisfied; the court for the first time in history of Novorossisk on this sort of cases appointed the second hearing. It seems that the court has really decided to clear out the case or, at least, not to make a lot of blunders," Mr Karastelyov believes.

"This time, experts from Nizhni Novgorod agreed to make examination. These are real experts-linguists, not a psychologist and a philosopher who held the first examination," Vadim Karastelyov said to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
