Georgian opposition plans its future

A number of leading opposition parties of Georgia hold consultations aimed to coordinate future plans. In particular, they still demand resignation of President Mikhail Saakashvili and early presidential election, as Kakha Kukava, one of the leaders of the Conservative Party, said in the press conference.

The general results of the consultations will become known in the nearest ten days.

"For the Conservative Party, Mikhail Saakashvili's resignation and early election are still in force. Only at unity of the opposition the struggle against the authorities can be continued and bring the result," said Mr Kukava.

According to his story, "improvement of the electoral environment" also needs unity of the opposition.

"It implies not only improvement of the electoral legislation, but also release of political prisoners and lifting of censorship from state masses media. In our efforts towards above targets, street protest actions and stronger pressure of international organizations are important," said the oppositionist.

According to Kukava, only in case the opposition's demands are met, truthful elections can be held, where the opposition will take part.
