In Dagestan, inspector claims moral harm compensation from journalists

On October 6, the Federal Court of the Sovietskiy District of Makhachkala started considering the suit lodged by Kadi Aidemirov, acting head of the Khasavyurt Investigatory Committee, about solidary collection from the Dagestan weekly "Novoye Delo" and advocate Sapiyat Magomedova of 100,000 roubles as moral harm compensation. The session was chaired by Federal Judge Shamil Gasanov.

The reason for the claim was the article by journalist Akhmednabi Akhmednabiev "Pothead and Sleazeball", published in the weekly No. 34 of August 28, 2009.

The article ran that on September 22, 2008, Magomedova, in the presence of numerous witnesses, called former inspectors of the Khasavyurt Prosecutor's Office Kadi Aidemirov and Arslankhan Arslankhanov with the words "potheads" and "sleazeballs", thus, insulting them.

The judicial session as such was postponed till October 16. Magomedova told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that the information published in "Novoe Delo" was truthful, and she would present proofs at the trial. In his turn, Mr Akhmednabiev said that the court would be able to clear out everything.
