Bastrykin: Anna Politkovskaya's murder will be solved

On October 16, Alexander Bastrykin, Chairman of the Investigatory Committee at the Prosecutor's Office (ICPO) of the Russian Federation, said that the murder case of the observer of the "Novaya Gazeta" will be solved.

In his opinion, a whole range of proofs were wrongfully removed from the process. "And thus, the case was ruined," the Internet magazine "New Policy" quotes Mr Bastrykin as saying.

He has also reported that the investigation into the murder of Adilgerei Magomedtagirov, Minister of Internal Affairs of Dagestan, committed on June 5 in Makhachkala, goes on with great difficulties. It is supposed that he was shot dead by a sniper, according to the ITAR-TASS.

Apart from commenting on the progress in investigation of these resonant crimes, the head of the ICPO told about exposure of an especially dangerous gang, which is suspected of murders, including murders of law enforcers. The gang acted in the Caucasus and had ties with Moscow.
