According to the Minister, the criminal was blocked in one of private houses and rendered armed resistance at detention. "He was shooting back for more than 15 minutes," said the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), having added that the militant was close to militants' leaders Doku Umarov and Hussein Gakaev, as reported by the "Infox.ru" Agency.

The "Echo of Moscow" Radio adds that the casualty took one of the top positions in the hierarchy of militants, being Hussein Gakaev's "right hand".

According to Mr Alkhanov, Ali Khasanov was organizer of training terrorists-suicide bombers, who planned terror acts in the republic.
