HRC "Memorial" resumes its work in Chechnya

The Human Rights Centre (HRC) "Memorial" plans to restart its activities in the territory of the Chechen Republic in near future. However, the format can be somewhat different.

"The basic decision to restart our offices in the territory of Chechnya is made. It'll be done in the near future," a local employee of the "Memorial" told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent. "The format of our activities will be somewhat different, but the principles remain the same."

He gave no details about the changes but emphasized that help to citizens in need of legal defence and monitoring of the situation in the republic will be continued as before.

    Law enforcers have conducted a search of the home of Tatiana Polivanova, an activist, and her family members in Taganrog in connection with a fraud case with land plots of the Sochi National Park. The Polivanova's organization provided legal assistance to dozens of gardeners whose plots were seized by the court within this case.
