In Georgia, electricity supply to refugees from South Ossetia will resume after payment of debts
Supply of electric power to refugees from South Ossetia, living in Skra village, Gori District (Eastern Georgia), will be resumed only after they pay their debts to the "Telasi" electricity distribution company. The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was informed about it at the press service of the company.
According to the press service, the total debt for already consumed energy makes 22,000 laris (about 13,200 US dollars).
Manana Champuridze, head of the Gori Service for Refugees' Matters of the Ministry on Refugees' Matters and Accommodation, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that electricity supply to the refugees was restored in the morning on December 25 after they paid part of her debt to "Telasi".
In her turn, Ekaterina Gulua, head of the press service of the above Ministry, saw the problem in refugees' unwillingness to pay for the consumed electric power.
Let us remind you that on December 24 refugees from South Ossetia held a protest action, having blocked a railway section near Gori with a demand to resume electricity supply. According to the protesters, they had no electricity for several days by then because of non-payment.
